The nominees have been announced for the Moët British Independent Film Awards, coming to London this year on Sunday 6th December. Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster leads with a grand total of seven nominations, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Producer of the Year, with leading man Colin Farrell up for Best Actor and Olivia Colman and Ben Whishaw also nominated for their supporting roles.

Close seconds are 45 Years and Macbeth with six nominations each, also including Best British Independent Film and Best Director. 45 Years has nominations for its screenplay, Producer of the Year, and for actors Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, too are nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress, and Macduff, Sean Harris, for Best Supporting Actor.

Of course Asif Kapadia’s hit documentary movie AMY is also a strong contender in the mix, following with five nominations: Director, Documentary, Producer of the Year, its Editing and also for Best British Independent Film.
