A new book is being published by Thames & Hudson celebrating the hand stencilled art of Pochoir in fashion. Making up ‘Fashion and the Art of Pochoir’ are 300 carefully curated works of the popular early 20th century art form, chosen from old couture albums, vintage high-end magazines and prints, including illustrators such as George Lepape and George Barbier. The images have been sourced from the Special Collections of The Fashion institute of Technology in New York by fashion historians April Calahan and Cassidy Zachary, and feature biographical notes throughout on the illustrators and designers depicted.
Seen as a luxury art form during its most popular decades, the book aside from its historical document status is a beautiful object in its own right, and sure to make any coffee table look undeniably classy. Pick up a copy online now.
