Adding to its expanding list of stores, Acne Studios has just unveiled its new South Korean flagship in Seoul. Designed by London-based architect Sophie Hicks, the store keeps to the clean, minimal aesthetic that weaves its way into every Acne store. Yet this latest addition has departed slightly from the mechanical industrialism that we’re used to, instead incorporating more natural elements like rough timber, natural vegetation, and a floating concrete staircase that straddles one of the four exposed pillars.
Openness is one of the crucial elements of the store, as well as light. The entire structure appears like a huge lightbox, diffusing a gentle glow to visitors as they approach it, all adding to the concept of ‘modest discretion and forceful attitude’ at the heart of the design.
Just like the spot it sits on in Seoul’s exclusive Cheongdam area, Acne Studios is releasing a limited-edition unisex sweatshirt which is only being sold in the new store to celebrate its opening.
The Acne Studios flagship is located at 79-7 Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
