Last night saw fashion icons and influencers from all over the world gather at the Royal Academy of Art, for the annual Fashion Awards, which doubled up as a fundraiser for the British Fashion Council’s Education Foundation, providing scholarships for design students and apprenticeships.

Dropping it’s ‘British’ prefix, this year’s awards refreshingly celebrated a diverse range of fashion’s talents, and there was an evident spotlight on the younger generation. Among the winners; Jaden and Willow Smith received the New Fashion Icons Award, 21-year-old Gigi Hadid who was crowned model of the year and the British Emerging Talent Award went to Molly Goddard.

One of the most controversial designers of his generation, Vetements founder and creative director of Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia was awarded International RTW Designer. Simone Rocha won Womenswear Designer, while Menswear Designer was awarded to Craig Green, and iconic American sportswear designer Ralph Lauren was awarded for his outstanding achievements. Alexander McQueen was awarded British brand of the year, which continues a legacy of excellence and innovation started by one of the greatest designers born in the UK.
