Figure 8 is the latest track from FKA Twigs, taken from her new upcoming album and recently premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. We all know what Twigs is about by now: a haunting voice over mixed up, twisted synths and glitchy beats, all coming together to form a masterfully put together piece of music. Figure 8 is just as artistically formed, with dark sound effects that create a sense of urgency next to her trembling vocals. Twigs has said the song was written at a time where she “just felt like everything was shattering”, which comes across towards the end of the track when the song begins to deconstruct, breaking into a short rap and then unravelling into layers of effects and strange moans. Its one of Twig’s more emotional affairs, especially more so than previous single Glass & Patron (also from the new album), which in our eyes makes what she has in store for the video all the more promising, considering G&P is pretty hard to top.
