Producer extraordinaire Kaytranada knows how to treat us, having just dropped a mix of “beats, loops, remixes and sounds made during the process of 99.9%”. 0.001% landed at the end of last week, a 90 minute compilation of low-key beats sealed with the trademark Kaytra stamp.

Following his standout album 99.9%, which solidified his position as one of the world’s finest producers, fans have been keen to find out just how the Haiti-born, Montreal-based artist arrived at his distinctive sound. 0.001% fills that criteria, the countless chunks of music ranging from far-fetched influences to the early stages of tracks that made the cut for the finished album (skip to 37:42 for a taste of ‘Together’).

Whatever the song, anything dripping with Kaytranada’s sound is a welcome gift. The mix comes as Chance the Rapper hints at a collaboration, with Kaytranada expected to drop the as-yet unreleased song independently from Chance’s upcoming mixtape, which it was apparently intended for in the beginning.
