With the likes of Kaytranada and Com Truise taking care of production on her debut EP, Reva Devito was always going to be in good hands. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the singer-songwriter has just released THE MOVE EP, marking her impressive first offering peppered with everything from R&B to jazz to electronic.
Yet, impressive production credits aside, the singer comes into her own as her slick vocals coo over crisp beats and chunky bass. ‘SO BAD’, is a sultry, bass-rich opener for the EP, which does a fine job of introducing us to Devito’s powerful voice from the get go. ‘DEEPER’, meanwhile, is a smooth, low-key number that plays with old-school R&B stylings. The EP’s title track – the second to be produced by Kaytra – was premiered by Zane Lowe, and made instant waves thanks to the jabbing electronic melodies and Devito’s effortlessly chilled voice.
THE MOVE EP is a strong entry to the scene for Reva Devito, and with a compilation of music as addictive and accomplished as this, we’re excited to see what she’s got lined up next.
