Off the back of his initial success with ‘Piece Of Me’, MK is keeping the ball rolling by releasing a handful of remixes by electronic maestros far and wide, all as part of his Remix Packages 1 and 2. ‘Piece Of Me’ was already popular after its initial release, yet the track has been given a new lease of life with the remix packages, which arrive just before the American DJ and producer begins his summer residency at Pacha in Ibiza.

Instead of breaking down the track as a whole, Groove Armada has constructed a 7 minute house remix that progresses through different stages. The base of the song comes from a small loop, with Andy Cato and Tom Findlay building the peak around that rather than the choral hook that MK plunges into with the original.

The track immediately takes on a fiercer, darker edge, but you’re still made to wait as Groove Armada teases you with an extended intro. It’s not until you’re 90 seconds in that Becky Hill’s vocals are introduced, her punchy voice looped over the throbbing beat and skewed melodies. The stripping-back of lyrics and the focus on the percussion channel the intense vibe of the remix, with pounding bass and resonating synth injected into the concoction every now and then.

This is just one of many remixes for the song, with other versions coming from Camelphat and JKAY on the first remix package, while Riva Starr and The Saunderson Brothers feature on Remix Package 2.
